Yesterday I just watched this film once again.
Feel to share with you guys.
Everyone know about Romeo and Juliet's story.
Even we have our own version of "Rumi dan Juli" and "Uda dan Dara"
However, despites the tales that how wonderful is this William Shakespeare's play is,
I had no idea that their love is not everlasting.
Yes, I am ignorant.
I did not know that their love is forbidden and had a bad ending.
I taught it is just like other fairy tale's story.
They lived happily ever after.
It's almost a year, I have this movie in my hard disk.
And just recently I just watched this movie and instantly fall in love with it.
It does not only been beautifully played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes
but also because they used the original version of script from the play.
It is literally watching a modern movies with the old times script.
With the beautiful and wonderful dialog, I was mesmerized.
This is actually much more better than Titanic.
Romeo + Juliet (1996)
Actually I was thinking about letting this film in my hard disk because of the introduction of this film.
I did not look anything like any love's movie.
There were gun's shooting and fighting.
Then after fast-forward, the scene started to making sense.
At this movie, DiCaprio's pretty face was totally dissolved for all those sweet romance talk.
This movie started with the fighting between two well-known family in Verona, the Montagues and the Capulets. In a party that had been throw at Capulets mansion, Romeo -the only son of Montagues that were coming with his friends to make trouble, meet Juliet - the daughter of Capulets and they instantly fall in love. Hopelessly fall in love and they were married quietly the next day.
However, they did not meant to be happy together. On that day, Juliet's cousin killed Romeo's best friend and Romeo took his life. Verona was in chaos. The Capulets wanted the police to take Romeo's life, but the head police refused as Juliet's cousin started all this, and it isn't fair, so he banished Romeo from Verona.
While Romeo was hiding, Juliet's father wanted her to married with the governor's son. She refused, however her father still insisted. The priest that help her get married came with the solution. He asked Juliet to drink this one chemical, then she will die within 24 hours. After that, he will send her to Romeo. Unfortunately during the funeral, Romeo's friend came and told Romeo about this.
Romeo could not believe this and felt that there is no more left in his life. He came back to Verona with a poison in his hand. He came to give last visit to Juliet and drink his poison. At that time, Juliet wake up and realised what Romeo did and she killed herself with a gun that Romeo's brought along with him.
Well not a type of love stories anyone would like.
It is not as worse as what I am summarised.
I just happened not to be a good story teller.
Guess for those who are fonded with "Puteri Gunung Ledang" played by Tiara and M. Nasir as me,
you should try give this movie a shot.
I guess I love the element of literature in this film.
Understanding Shakespeare's work in easier way.
Honestly, there is some words that I could not believe I know what is the meaning by watching this movie.
The most valuable moral that were worth mentioning,
Suicide is stupid.
No matter how hopeless things are, living is much more better than dying.
Try watching The Mist if you want the feel the impact.
